Staff Duties & Responsibilities
- Experience in working with individuals who have a variety of support needs
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and staff
- Effectively work with other team members to provide adequate support
- Be aware of health and safety within the location of work
- Have the knowledge of how to use mobility devices safely
- Have the ability and knowledge to perform lifts and transfers safely
- Be open to work at multiple locations
- The ability to involve individuals in directing their own care
- Assist individuals with all activities of daily living including housekeeping tasks and duties
- Preparation and support of daily meals and awareness of special diets
- Attend medical appointments and community events
- Support individuals with all aspects of personal care not limited to toileting and personal grooming
Qualifications & Educational Requirements
- PSW, CSW, SSW, DSW, RPN Certificate from an Ontario university, community college or private college approved and registered by the Ministry of Training
- Successful completion of the final examination administered by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) or related education
- Related experience working with people who have disabilities in the social services sector
- Up-to-date immunizations and current medical check
- Valid CPI (Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention, Safe Management)
- Valid G2 or G license. Access to a vehicle is an asset
- Valid CPR and First Aid
- Pharmacology or medication training an asset
- The successful candidate will be required to produce a Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance and proof of education and training prior to the start of their employment
